BBYF Board Members visit awards assemblies

At these assemblies board members have the opportunity to further honor these outstanding students in front of their friends and family, and bring more exposure to this worthy program.

This spring board members were asked to attend assemblies at 17 north Texas middle and junior high schools. These included Brooks Wester (Mansfield ISD), Summer Creek (Crowley ISD), Fossil Hill (Keller ISD), Central (HEB ISD), Gunn (Arlington ISD), Kennedale, Keller, North Richland, Dawson (Carroll ISD), Carroll, Bailey (Arlington ISD), Shackelford (Arlington ISD), Walker (Dallas ISD), Chisholm Trail (Northwest ISD), Hillwood (Keller ISD), McLean (Fort Worth ISD), and Daggett Montessori (Fort Worth ISD). Many thanks to BBYF board members Jim Beckman, Frank Carroll, Michael Davidson, Bobbie Edmonds, Michael Goodrich, Bob Hamilton, Doug Jennings, Greg Kalina, Julie Ladner, Chris Lewis, Paul Rogers, Tracy Taylor, and Doug White who attended one or more of these assemblies.

BBYF nominated for McFadden Service Award

The Bobby Bragan Youth foundation was one of four area nonprofit organizations nominated by the Camp Fire USA First Texas Council to receive the 2010 Ella C. McFadden Service Award. This award was established in 1982 for the purpose of recognizing the accomplishments of organizations and individuals that serve youth. 

This year’s award was announced at a luncheon at the City Club on May 11th—the 2010 recipient is H.I.K.I.D.S., an inner city organization whose mission is to help children in danger.

Scholarship Winners honored at Rangers Ballpark

The 2010 Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation Scholarship Winners were recognzied on the field before the Rangers-Royals game on May 6 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Thanks to the Rangers for their wonderful hospitality.

2009/2010 Winners and Finalists honored

This year’s 36 Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation college scholarship winners were announced on Wednesday, March 31st. Each of these outstanding eighth grade students has received the promise of a $2,500 scholarship upon their completion of high school and enrollment in college.

The 2009/2010 winners represent 15 school districts from across the Fort Worth/Dallas metroplex. A record number of 10 winners was selected from the Dallas Independent School District.

All finalists and winners were honored at the Scholarship Celebration on Sunday, April 18 on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University.

The Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation board extends its congratulations to all the participants in this year’s scholarship competition, and sends best wishes for their continued success throughout high school and college.
